How to Actually Enjoy December (Without Living on Takeout)

Let's be honest — December is beautiful, but it's also nonstop.

Between work deadlines, holiday shopping, school events, party planning, gift wrapping, and trying to squeeze in time with the people you actually care about, something's gotta give. And usually, that something is dinner.

So you find yourself ordering pizza again. Grabbing drive-thru on the way home. Eating crackers and cheese over the sink at 9 PM because you ran out of time (and energy) to figure out a real meal.

We get it. And we're not here to guilt you about it.

But here's the thing: You still deserve real food. Even in December. Especially in December.

Why December Is When It Matters Most

It sounds counterintuitive, right? The busiest month of the year is when you should think about making dinner easier?

But here's what happens when you don't have to think about what's for dinner: you actually get to enjoy the parts of December that matter.

The school concert. The friend you haven't seen in months. The quiet Saturday morning when you're not scrambling to meal prep for the week.

When one thing is handled, everything else gets a little easier.

What It Actually Looks Like

Monday: Meals arrive at your door, ready to eat.

Tuesday evening: You're running late from a holiday event. Come home, heat up the Cajun Honey Glazed Chicken in 3 minutes, eat actual food.

Wednesday: Crazy day at work. Grab the Mediterranean Shawarma Bowl from the fridge for lunch. Feel like a functional adult.

Thursday: School concert runs late. Kids are starving. Heat up the Bourbon Chicken, everyone eats real food instead of cereal.

Friday: Quiet night in with the Honey Sriracha Glazed Chicken and a good bottle of wine.

No planning. No shopping. No "what's for dinner?" panic at 5 PM.

Just real food, when you need it.

"It Was the Only Thing I Didn't Have to Think About"

Sarah, a working mom of two from Fairfield, told us this last December:

"Between my daughter's play rehearsals and trying to get holiday gifts sorted, I was barely keeping it together. Having Honeyplate meals in the fridge was honestly the only reason we ate vegetables that month. I didn't have to plan, shop, or cook—I just had to remember to heat things up. It was the only thing I didn't have to think about, and that made all the difference."

Variety That Keeps It Interesting

The menu rotates weekly—Mediterranean Shawarma Bowl, Bang Bang Chicken, Sesame Salmon, BBQ Pulled Pork, Chimichurri Steak. Breakfast options like Red Velvet Pancakes and Blueberry Lemon Cheesecake Overnight Oats.

Everything made from scratch in our West Haven kitchen by Chef Brian and the team.

No boring meal prep. No same-thing-every-night rut. Just real food that's different every week.

What If December Didn't Mean Survival Mode?

December is supposed to be about joy, connection, and celebration. But somewhere between the office parties and the family gatherings, we end up exhausted and eating whatever's fastest.

Here's a thought: what if you gave yourself permission to make it easier?

Not by doing more. By letting one thing be handled.

Dinner doesn't have to be another thing on your list.
